(E-E) Evgenij Kozlov 8 vintage proof sheets from photo sessions with Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe, 1989 / 1990

On page 78 from the catalogue "Жизнь замечательного Монро" / "The life of remarkable Monroe", New Museum, St. Petersburg, 2014, edited by Olesya Turkina and Viktor Mazin, we see two painted photographs by Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe. Both were taken by Evgenij Kozlov in his "Lenin's room". They can be seen on film strip 3075, second to the left, top (Inv. no GK11) and bottom (Inv. no. GK16).

As always, Evgenij Kozlov developed and printed the film himself, preselecting specific photographs for further work with a blue or black dot. In the 1980s he frequently repainted his own photographs see article "Evgenij Kozlov’s photographs in his art of the 80s" >>. It is interesting to see that Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe used similar techniques in the reworking the vintage prints he received from Kozlov.

The catalogue wrongly refers to St. Petersburg artist Igor Ryatov as author of the photographs.
